Portland Royals could be first sponsored Southern League team
League sources say that Portland Royals team captain Jeramey Randall is in talks to get a sponsorship for his expansion team. Word is that Jeramey has been talking to the Bitter End Pub to get a team sponsorship. Details of the sponsorship are still unknown at this time but we assume that the team will most likely get hats and a nice bar tab after every game.

Eric "Dr. K" Keele of the Laurelhurst Pirates did something against the Gresham Braves that has never been done before in the CCWA. The perfect game. Eighteen batters faced, eighteen batters out. Eric struck out fifteen and got three outs on batted balls to accomplish the feat. He did not walk any batters during the game.
Couch St. Reds pull off first double play in league history
"Thunder" Dan Hurley and Casey Bradley of the Couch St. Reds pulled of the first double play in league history in the first week of play. They were playing against the Portland Royals when Jeramey Randall hit a soft grounder up the middle. Mr. All-Defense Hurley scooped up the slow roller and tossed it to Bradley who was waiting in the double play triangle. Casey turned the play effortlessly and got the Reds out of the inning. They would go on to win the game.
